Dr. Sheela S. Prahalad earned her undergraduate degree from Govt. M.H. College of Home Science and Science, Jabalpur, MP, India. After clearing Pre Medical Test, she entered Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur, MP, India, at the tender age of 16. For most of her schooling, she received Merit scholarship wherein not only was the tuition waived, but she also received a stipend. She did her rotatory internship at Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Bhopal, MP, India. She had just started residency in Internal Medicine at Jabalpur when she got an opportunity to follow her dream and immigrate to the United States. After clearing ECFMG and FLEX, she did an externship at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. She did her residency in internal medicine at the Wright Center for GME. She was the chief resident and then assistant to the director, Dr. Wright. She was a preceptor for the residents in the outpatient primary care clinic for over five years.
