About: Dr. Jamie N. Mills is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from California State University, Chico, before relocating to Charleston, South Carolina, where she completed her training in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). During her time at MUSC, she obtained both her MD and a PhD in Biomedical Science, with a focus on Cancer Biology and Cancer Genomics/Epigenomics. Dr. Mills completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan in 2021, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the same institution in 2024. In 2025, she joined the University of Michigan faculty, where she specializes in the medical treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, liver cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors. She also has a particular interest in cancers of unknown primary (CUP), especially those originating in the abdominal region. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Mills is actively engaged in research at the University of Michigan. She collaborates with mentors Marina Pasca di Magliano, PhD, and Filip Bednar, MD, PhD, focusing on the epigenetics of pancreatic cancer. Her research also includes clinical studies aimed at improving outcomes for patients with GI cancers and CUP, with an emphasis on developing innovative clinical trials. Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Mills is involved in the Ann Arbor community and enjoys spending time with her husband and their five children.
