Lake Forest, Illinois- Dr. Judith S. Bensinger was born December 16, 1941 in Oregon. She received a B.A., in Biochemistry, at Northwestern University in 1963 and her Medical Degree from the Northwest University, Illinois, in 1968.
She is currently retired and had a private practice at North Shore Medical Services for Adolescents is which she specialized in eating disorders. She opened a primary care clinic, Goodwill Industries, in Springfield, Illinois.
She was a Pioneering Physician training the first nurse practitioners in a federal program from the state of Illinois. She became an Occupational Medical Physician for NIH and Nasa Space Center.
Dr. Bensinger has been named as ’10 Outstanding Women in America’ which she received at the White House under President Ford and received an award from Operation Push. She received the Marshall Bynum Award for Humanitarian Vision. She is the President of the Governing Board for the Chicago Symphony.
Her husband Peter Bensinger is the Head of Administration of the DEA. They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, tennis, golf, and water sports.
